Remarks

• medium sized (30-50 mm), very colourfull pectinid
• colour near the umbo is always orange

• Semipallium fulvicostatum (Adams & Reeve, 1850) is more deformed and left valve is less convex compared to S. dianae

• closely related to Semipallium crouchi (E. A. Smith, 1892) from the Red Sea to South Africa but S. dianae is more colourfull and often decorated with some fine, white zigzag blotches and darker lines.
